Mulching Done Properly
Forestry mulching is the cheapest way to reclaim acreage. A mulching head grinds standing brush and small trees into a chip layer right where they stood — no burning, no dumpsters, no truck after truck of debris leaving the property. That chip layer then suppresses regrowth, holds the soil and breaks down into it.
On the landscape side, we deliver and install bulk mulch by the yard: beds edged clean, depth consistent, and material picked to hold color through the season.

Mulching — Common Questions
What is forestry mulching, exactly?
A mulching head mounted on a machine grinds standing brush and small trees into wood chips on the spot. The material stays on the ground as a chip layer instead of being hauled away. It's faster and usually cheaper than conventional clearing because there's no debris removal, no burn permit and no disposal fees.
Does forestry mulching remove the stumps?
No. It grinds material at or slightly below grade and leaves the root systems intact. That's a feature if you want erosion control and no soil disturbance — but if you're building on the site, you need full clearing and grubbing instead. We do both, so we'll tell you honestly which one your project needs.
How much mulch do I need for my beds?
One cubic yard covers about 100 square feet at 3 inches deep, which is the depth most beds want. Give us your bed dimensions and we'll calculate it on the estimate.
When is the best time to mulch in New Jersey?
Mid to late spring, once the soil has warmed, is ideal for landscape beds — early enough to suppress weeds before they establish. A fall refresh helps insulate roots through winter. Forestry mulching can be done year-round, and winter is often the most efficient season because the growth is down and the ground is firm.
Will the mulch layer stop the brush from growing back?
It suppresses it significantly, especially at a good depth, but aggressive species will push through eventually. Most properties get several years out of one pass. For permanent conversion to lawn or a building pad, clearing and grubbing is the right call.
